Brachycephalic breeds, like Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, or Persian cats, have a facial structure that makes it harder for them to regulate their body temperature and breathe properly during transport. Their narrower airways and short snout increase the risk of hyperthermia and heatstroke, particularly in hot or stressful environments.<\/p>\n<p>These breeds include Pugs, Bulldogs, Pekingese, or Boxers in dogs, among others, and Persians or Exotic cats. This program is designed to identify, through a Fit-to-Fly assessment carried out by certified veterinarians, those brachycephalic animals that should not fly due to serious complications such as Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS).<\/p>\n<p>At BaggagePets we follow these strict standards, which allows us to ensure that only those animals proven to be fit to fly travel under supervision, offering safe, specialized transport committed to the wellbeing of every pet.<\/p>\n<h3>Transport of Brachycephalic Breeds<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1497\" data-end=\"1710\"><strong data-start=\"1497\" data-end=\"1535\">1. Heat can affect them especially<\/strong><br data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1538\" \/>In addition to breathing problems, brachycephalic breeds also struggle to regulate their body temperature, which makes them particularly vulnerable to changes in climate.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1712\" data-end=\"1823\">\n<li data-start=\"1712\" data-end=\"1823\">\n<p data-start=\"1714\" data-end=\"1823\"><strong data-start=\"1714\" data-end=\"1759\">Trips outside peak heat hours or seasons:<\/strong> we plan transfers on cooler days and avoid the hottest hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"2100\"><strong data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"1858\">2. They need a spacious crate<\/strong><br data-start=\"1858\" data-end=\"1861\" \/>As mentioned in our section about getting your pet used to its crate, due to breathing difficulties, brachycephalic pets require larger crates than usual. This way, they can move more easily and breathe better thanks to improved airflow.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2360\"><strong data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2144\">3. Not all airlines can transport them<\/strong><br data-start=\"2144\" data-end=\"2147\" \/>Because they are brachycephalic, many airlines enforce an embargo and may not transport them depending on the temperature. Others apply restrictions during the hottest months, avoiding transport of these breeds.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2362\" data-end=\"2520\">\n<li data-start=\"2362\" data-end=\"2520\">\n<p data-start=\"2364\" data-end=\"2520\"><strong data-start=\"2364\" data-end=\"2402\">Temperature-controlled cargo hold:<\/strong> during transport, we ensure that the area where the pet travels remains within a safe and stable temperature range.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2522\" data-end=\"3100\"><strong data-start=\"2522\" data-end=\"2561\">4.
